Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Abdo Tantawy
PhD, MSc, B.SC, is a Senior Petroleum Engineer with over 30
years of extensive experience in the oil & gas industry. His
field of expertise lies mainly on Reservoir Simulation,
Reservoir Engineering, Enhanced Oil Recovery, Well Test Analysis
and Production Engineering. Presently, he heads the Petroleum
Engineering Department of a prestigious engineering institute.
With his interest & devotion to science, he was driven to
participate in the Water Shut-Off and Permeability Modification
projects in Texas, USA and was made to supervise numerous
scientific researches and theses all throughout the Middle East,
and is now supervising 15 Master & PhD thesis in well test
analysis, reservoir simulation, production technology and
different petroleum engineering subjects. He also leads the
evaluation of technical papers on Petroleum Engineering for some
national & international journals and conferences. Furthermore,
his passion for teaching brought him to establish linkage
programs between universities and companies like the ones with
the Department of Petroleum Engineering, Suez Canal University
and Texas A&M University, USA, and had produced a score of
publications all in the various fields of Petroleum Engineering.
Specializing in Well Test Design and Analysis for either
Homogeneous or Heterogeneous Reservoirs with simple or complex
reservoir geometries, the evaluation of Multilateral and
Horizontal Wells, and the Formulation & Development Models for
Oil & Gas Reservoirs utilizing Eclipse software applications,
his ideas and recommendations are well sought off in the
industry. Dr. Tantawy has PhD, Masters and Bachelors Degrees in
Petroleum Engineering and is a highly regarded member of the
Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) from Texas A & M University
(USA)
